Hong Kong, May 13, 2024 (AFP) Hong Kong stocks opened slightly lower Monday following last week’s strong run- up, while traders were also spooked by reports that the United States is set to ramp up tariffs on Chinese clean energy goods.
The Hang Seng Index edged down 0.31 percent, or 59.10 points, to 18,904.58.
The Shanghai Composite Index slipped 0.48 percent, or 15.07 points, to 3,139.48, while the Shenzhen Composite Index on China’s second exchange fell 0.75 percent, or 13.39 points, to 1,770.38.
